Prestwood Care Village
We look forward to bringing this Care Village site forward during 2026, which will involve the redevelopment of the existing Prestwood Care Home Estate, to provide a new holistic Care Village complex.
This site will come forward under the Government the Government’s Grey Belt policy provisions, which supports development in areas that do not contribute significantly to the Green Belt designation and where there is a specific need for the use proposed.
In this case, there is an undisputed major shortfall of elderly and specialist care facilities in the District, which enables us come forward with this scheme.
The site does have a number of environmental constraints, including protected landscapes, river corridors, priority habitats and Tree Preservation Orders. A careful masterplanned approach to the site is therefore required, to ensure that those key environmental features are protected.
There is a massive need for new care facilities and bed space across the Country, and South Staffordshire is no different. This site has been crying out for development for many years, but it was previously prevented by stringent Green Belt policy. Following the Government’s introduction of Grey Belt policy, we are now able to bring this site forward to meet the much need care requirements of the district. We look forward to working with South Staffordshire Council, and the local quality care commission and other care partners, to bring forward this development.
