Wolverley Secondary School
We are supporting Wolverley CofE Secondary School, Wolverley, Kidderminster, with the submission of a full planning application for a vital infrastructure upgrade on its long established campus. Our team is currently working proactively alongside local authority officers to secure permission for a formal car park extension to create 82 structured spaces.
The project addresses the critical operational challenge relating severe on-site under-provision of parking space. Daily staff demand leaves two-thirds of the school's 125 employees without designated parking, leading to hazardous and unsightly overflow parking on grassed areas and access routes. This has resulted in ground compaction, damage to mature tree roots, and dangerous pedestrian-vehicle interactions.
Because the application site is situated within both the West Midlands Green Belt and the Wolverley Conservation Area, the scheme demanded a rigorous policy strategy. We have built a robust case demonstrating that the project constitutes an acceptable form of development in this location, with Very Special Circumstances also forming a fundamental part of our argument.
Our planning submission details substantial environmental and operational benefits. By utilising a porous gravel system, the development acts as a Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) to resolve long-standing waterlogging issues. Complemented by integrated perimeter and internal soft landscaping, the scheme guarantees a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain. It successfully protects the site’s historic setting while entirely containing staff vehicles to secure a safer, more sustainable environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This is another example of our close working relationship with partners in the education sector. Despite planning policy constraints, we are able to use our knowledge and experience to demonstrate solutions to education specific issues such as this.
