Project
Tivoli, Cheltenham
Residential development
Zesta were appointed to prepare and coordinate a planning application for a new dwelling in Tivoli, Cheltenham in conjunction with Lanza Architects. Our early appointment allowed us to formulate a planning strategy and assemble the design team to best suit the project brief.
A sensitive design approach was key here due to the constrained site and its location within Cheltenham’s Conservation Area. Through collaborative working, the final design assimilated well within the Conservation Area and its context. During the application process, there were objections from neighbours which led to the application being determined at committee.
Through a considered and cohesive approach, we overcame hurdles and gained both case officer and planning committee member support. The scheme was granted approval at planning committee. During the meeting it was considered that the scheme was ‘good design’ and ‘something that should be encouraged across the Borough’.
This case highlights how early input from Zesta added value, our clear planning strategy, team formulation and design input resulted in the submitted scheme being approved without the need for multiple revisions.
