Project

Almsbury Farm Barns

Mixed-use Development

Zesta Planning are delighted to have submitted a planning application and listed building consent for the redevelopment of Almsbury Barns, a complex of Grade II listed barns and modern agricultural barns. The Almsbury Farm Barns form an important focal point to the Castle’s approach and contribute to the scenic qualities of the Cotswolds. The site is highly constrained as it is located within a Conservation Area, the AONB and on the edge of the Sudeley Park and Gardens.

The site is in Winchcombe and part of the Sudeley Estate. Working closeley with Yiangou Architects, Built Heritage Consultantcy, MHP and Rappor, the proposed redevelopment seeks the sensitive restoration of the listed buildings for commercial and residential use and the replacement of the modern agricultural buildings with bespoke, high quality new dwellings.

This is a very special site and there is an opportunity to leave a legacy for Winchcombe through the sensitive development of this site.

The Sudeley Estate includes the site of the Grade I Listed Sudeley Castle, a building of national historic importance, together with a wealth of other heritage assets. The Almsbury Farm Barns form an important focal point to the Castle’s approach and contribute to the scenic qualities of the Cotswolds. In a derelict condition for generations, it has been a privilage to lead proposals for the redevelopment of the site. This includes sensitive conversion and restoration of historic Cotswold barns to provide small-scale business, together with the replacement of portal-framed barns to provide new build cotswold vernacular housing. This development has the potential to leave a legacy for Winchcombe and the wider cotswolds, whilst ensure the viability of the Sudeley Estate as a custodian of the Castle and an important local employer
